BOM weather delivers official forecasts, warnings and observations from the Bureau of Meteorology. The live conditions above show current temperatures ranging from 12–18°C in southern capitals like Melbourne and Hobart to 28–33°C across northern Australia, with isolated showers near the Queensland coast.
What data does BOM weather provide?
The Bureau publishes seven-day forecasts, three-hourly coastal wind and wave predictions, and synoptic charts for the entire continent. Key products include the bom weather radar loop (updated every 6–10 minutes) and the bom weather map for pressure systems. For state-specific conditions, check bom weather sydney or bom weather melbourne – each city page gives temperature, humidity, wind speed and UV index.
How to access BOM weather on the go
Use the free bom weather app (iOS and Android) for location-based alerts and bom weather radar imagery. The website also serves bom weather perth, bom weather brisbane and bom weather victoria regional pages. For longer planning, the Weather 10 Days page or the Weather Forecast Australia hub are useful.
Is BOM weather the same as Weatherzone?
No. The Bureau of Meteorology is Australia’s national weather agency, while Weatherzone is a commercial provider that uses BOM data. For official warnings and primary observations, always refer to bom.gov.au.
How often are BOM forecasts updated?
City and town forecasts are refreshed at around 5:00 AM and 5:00 PM AEST daily. Severe weather warnings are issued as conditions change, and radar images update every 6–10 minutes.
Does BOM issue a fire danger rating?
Yes. During the fire season, BOM partners with state fire authorities to produce daily Fire Danger Ratings (e.g. High, Extreme, Catastrophic) for each district. These appear on the Severe Weather Warning page and in the app.
